Come and meet Amy Norvell Ruiz, the Founder of Norvell Ruiz!
“Because I want to show her that ANYTHING is possible.”
For as long as I can remember, one of my biggest dreams was to open my own business! Like most, I tried waiting until everything was perfect…well, ironically during the pandemic - I got to the point that I couldn’t wait any longer for things to be “perfect.” I took the dream that God placed in my heart, some money I had been saving, a few t-shirt sketches and went for it! I launched with just two t-shirts on my website! However, the joy and excitement of FINALLY having my own business came with a reality check when my boutique wasn’t an “overnight success.” I battled staying consistent, not treating it as a “real” business just because the money wasn’t rolling in. I was stocking my boutique with things I liked, and I started to wonder if anyone else appreciated my style.
A couple years later, I resigned from my job as a bridal store manager with the support from my amazing husband, and decided to stay at home with my brand new baby. I had a friend who was involved in pageantry and told me about becoming a sponsor and doing a pop up at one of their National pageants. I had worked in retail for the last ten years and was so excited to mingle with people again!
My husband took off of work to watch our baby, and I immediately went to work! I purchased some wholesale accessories to go with my designs, grabbed some balloons for my table and had my very first pop up! I had no idea what to expect, but the girls flocked to my set up, “ooohing” and “awwing” at all of the merchandise. I got to know so many amazing women! That event showed me how much I loved pop ups and gave me the confidence to continue buying the unique pieces that I loved. Now, I’m doing multiple pop ups a month! I still have my signature design (with a mix of market pieces), my business is growing, and I’m so proud of myself as a business owner - right where I’m at, even though it’s still small!
I’ve come a long way, I’ve learned so much (STILL LEARNING), and this is just the beginning. Even if this helps one person go after their dreams - it’s all worth it! My little girl is now a one year old, and I will continue to show her that I didn’t give up and that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
